Women’s Health Physiotherapists treat and support pelvic health through all stages in life
We use evidence-based treatment techniques to treat conditions relating to your pelvic floor, bladder and bowel, and pelvis
Emily has completed her training through the Women’s Health Training Association (WHTA). She thrives in helping women through all life stages and assisting with maintenance of pelvic health.
In the initial 1 hour consult your physiotherapist will take a detailed history to understand your problem and the goals you wish to achieve.
From there, a thorough assessment of the pelvis, abdominals, pelvic floor and pelvic organs will be performed to make a diagnosis.
After diagnosis your physiotherapist will give you a detailed explanation of your condition and develop a treatment plan that aligns with your goals.
Your physiotherapist will use a wide variety of evidence-based treatment techniques depending on your condition and what you wish to achieve.
Common treatment techniques include:
– Pelvic floor retraining and exercises
– Pilates-based abdominal wall exercises
– Soft tissue techniques to treat pelvic pain and lower back pain
– Prenatal exercise programs
– Pessary fitting for pelvic organ prolapse
– Provision of pelvic muscle stimulators/educators to initiate a contraction in very weak pelvic floors
– Bladder and bowel retraining programs
– Fitting of pelvic braces and abdominal supports
– Return to exercise/sport program post-natal and post gynaecological/colorectal/urological surgery
